God is at Work…

First, let me apologize for the radio silence on the blog over these past six or more months. I have definitely been going through a different season with God. It has been a wonderfully transformative time.

Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

Genesis 28:15 – ESV

Shortly after feeling God push me to start writing again and creating the Blog, God put it on our hearts that He had some big plans for us. We renovated our house, to the best of our abilities (I think we did a pretty good job), and sold it. We then bought a house sight unseen (we only viewed it through pictures and a quick video tour with our agent), 4000 km’s away from everything and everyone we know. We had never visited this city prior to deciding to move here. The kids were excited for this new adventure and so were we. After a few months of suitcase living and a semi nomadic lifestyle we landed in West Kelowna, British Columbia.

Somewhere in Northern Ontario

We made the brave decision to drive across the country with our three boys, ages 8.5, 7.5 & 3.5. We weren’t sure how we were going to do it, seeing as our family car was a 2012 Hyundai Elantra with over 300,000 km’s on it. God had other plans for that car and shortly before closing on the house it started for the last time while we were out at the park. We entered into a frenzied panic of what to buy. We knew a used vehicle was all we wanted and quickly settled on a 2012 Honda Pilot. Seating for 8 and easy to fold benches sold us right away!

Our biggest fear in moving so far away was in finding our footing once we were settled in (which took less than a week, I am an unpacking beast). It was forest fire season when we moved in so we had to spend a lot of time indoors, but we did manage to spend a good amount of time at the beaches, exploring local parks, and visiting surrounding cities in the Okanagan Valley. We jumped online – sometimes social media is a blessing – and found local groups to join aligning to our hobbies and interests. I was connected to an amazing local church http://sunridge.org where we were immediately welcomed like family.

It has been just over three months since we moved into our new home, but already it feels like an old friend. We have made some deep connections with people, the kids love helping at church, and God is leading me on the path He has laid out for me. My spiritual gifts are blossoming as I begin finding my footing in the Church and what God has in store for me.

There will be lots more scripture discussion coming to the blog, as I start prioritizing my writing time into my daily schedule.

Let Everything that has breath, Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Psalm 150:6
